DC’s SWAMP THING Finds Their Leads

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

A Swamp Thing television show is coming to the DC Universe streaming app. There has been a ton of casting news for it, but we still didn’t know who would play Alec Holland/Swamp Thing. Until now.

The show will take a leaf from the Incredible Hulk TV show and cast two different people for the roles.

Alec Holland will be played by Andy Bean, and Swamp Thing will be played by Derek Mears.

Bean is best known for his role in the TV show Power, and will portray a grown up Stanley Uris in It: Chapter Two.

Mears is no stranger to the comic book genre, having appeared in Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., and The Flash on The CW. He has also appeared in Men In Black II, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the 2009 reboot of Friday The 13th as Jason Voorhees, and a ton of other credits.

Mears was rumored for the role, but now it’s nice to have confirmation. Bean and Mears will join Will Patton, who will play the villain, and Crystal Reed who is set to play the other lead, Abby Arcane.

I have not subscribed to DC Universe yet. Titans didn’t get me there. But this might. It sounds fantastic. The cast is stellar. The talent behind the camera is impressive too. James Wan is overseeing things, which is good news for anyone who enjoyed the Aquaman trailer, and his previous works.

If you absolutely cannot wait for this, might I suggest tuning into DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow next week – they will be dealing with at least some version of a Swamp Thing, as you can see in the preview below.

“Swamp Thing” is based on DC characters originally created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. The series is produced by Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television. Len Wiseman will direct the first episode, which premieres in 2019 on the new DC Universe digital subscription service.
