A Synopsis For GODZILLA VS. KONG Is Out (And Here’s Who We Think Might Be The Villain)

Read Time:1 Minute, 24 Second

With the main cast of Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong finally set, it’s time for more news on the film. The upcoming 2020 MonsterVerse crossover film has finally started production in Hawaii and will reportedly switch over to filming in Australia at a later date. But more exciting is our first real glimpse at the story of Godzilla vs. Kong!

The new synopsis reads:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Diving into the Speculation Zone here, but that tail end of the synopsis seems to foreshadow a certain fan-favorite kaiju villain born out of mankind’s scientific endeavors from the Godzilla lexicon. In case you’ve missed me saying it before, I’ve been hoping since Day 1 that fans would see the King of the Monsters and Kong have their brawl and then ultimately unite together to defeat Destroyah.

That said, it’s probably going to be awhile before we see more updates on specific story beats from this film. After all, the preceding Godzilla: King of the Monsters won’t hit theaters until next May and we probably won’t see the first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong until San Diego Comic Con 2019 at the earliest.
