TARZAN Actor Alexander Skarsgard Joins GODZILLA VS. KONG

Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

Casting for Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong has been heating up recently as the film gets ready to start production next month in Atlanta, Georgia. Recently both Brian Tyree Henry of Atlanta fame and Demián Bichir (Alien: Covenant, The Hateful Eight) joined the film’s cast alongside Stranger Things and Godzilla: King of the Monsters star Millie Bobby Brown. And now yet another impressive name has joined the film’s ranks!

Deadline reports that True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgard will star in the film. While little else is known about his role in the film right now, Variety added that Skarsgard “is expected to play the leader of a military unit.

While we don’t know if Skarsgard is playing one of the main leads in the film, that description reminds me a little bit of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s character in the 2014 Godzilla film that launched this Monsterverse franchise, if only due to the military connection.

I’m pretty excited to see Godzilla vs. Kong when it comes out in 2020. Not because of the titular match-up, because frankly any outcome that isn’t Godzilla kicking Kong’s rear end into the next decade is a joke, but because of whatever inevitable foe that appears that forces the two to team up together to save the day. I’m still hoping that ends up being Destroyah personally.

Both of the two Monsterverse films that have been released so far had their issues, but overall I enjoyed both films. And quite frankly, next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters looks stunning. Several months later and I still stand firm that that was hands down the best trailer to come out of San Diego Comic Con 2018. Hopefully Wingard can follow up with a strong crossover in Godzilla vs. Kong.
