Netflix Will Develop A Ton Of CHRONICLES OF NARNIA Movies And TV Shows

Read Time:2 Minute, 3 Second

Do you like Narnia? Because you’re about to get a whole lot of it. Disney tried to launch a movie franchise of the timeless novel series a while back, and it sort of fizzled out after a few entries. Now though, the franchise will be back in full force thanks to Netflix.

The official Narnia Facebook account (I didn’t know that was a real thing) was the first to announce it.

Netflix will develop new series and film projects based on C.S. Lewis’ beloved The Chronicles of Narnia series. Under the terms of a multi-year deal between Netflix and The C.S. Lewis Company, Netflix will develop classic stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its members worldwide.

No word on what will be films and what will be a series, but all parties involved seemed pleased with the arrangement.

Ted Sarandos, head of Netflix, had this to say:

“C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world. Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”

Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis, thinks Netflix is the best platform for Narnia to thrive on.

“It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world. Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”

I was never into the franchise that heavily, but I understand the impact. I read The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, but beyond that is where my knowledge stops. This seems like a slam dunk for both parties though. It was a franchise ripe to get adapted again.

Its influence can’t be denied, there was even a Doctor Who Christmas special based off the series called The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe.

I can see them making movies of the books, and TV shows in between the books. Or TV shows of the known stories, and movies of some original material. Using both mediums allows them countless opportunities.

Are you excited to explore Narnia again?
