Ryan Reynolds Joins Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson In Netflix’s RED NOTICE
Red Notice is a highly sought after heist thriller that Wonder Woman‘s Gal Gadot was attached to. Universal won the rights to the project, added Dwayne Johnson to serve as a Fast and Furious reunion, and was supposed to start production spring of this year.
However, it got delayed, and Netflix acquired it from Universal. With the Netflix acquisition came more talent climbing on board: Ryan Reynolds. The mere thought of Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson on screen together makes my brain happy.
The film centers around the pursuit of the most wanted art thief in the world. I hope that Gadot is the art thief, and Reynolds and Johnson are two different parties trying to catch her. That would make for some fun moments.
Red Notice will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed Johnson in Skyscraper.
Johnson and Thurber and this to say about the movie being a Netflix property now:
Johnson: “With ‘Red Notice,’ our goal at Seven Bucks Productions was to break down traditional barriers and create a true global event for the audience. Netflix has illustrated that they are the perfect partners to accomplish this goal.”
Thurber: “I’m beyond thrilled to be making ‘Red Notice’ with Scott Stuber and Netflix — a company that believes in filmmakers and big ideas for a global audience.”
Reynolds, Johnson, and Gadot are all huge bankable names with one or more franchises they are the face of. For them to do one-offs like this in between blockbuster franchise ventures is awesome. All three are charming, and for them to lend their talents to a good ol’ fashioned “catch me if you can” sounds like a fun time at the movies to me.
Johnson will next be seen in Hobbs And Shaw next month. Gadot has filmed Wonder Woman 1984 already, and Reynolds will be Deadpool again, but will be seen in a Hitman’s Bodyguard sequel first. It seems that we can add Red Notice to the list of things to look forward to.
