Keanu Reeves

Marvel Really Wants To Be In The Keanu Reeves Business

Read Time:1 Minute, 50 Second

Eventually, every prominent well-known actor will have a Marvel credit on their résumé. Who would have thought we would have seen Kurt Russell, Jeff Bridges, Annette Bening, Angela Bassett, Michael Douglas or Robert Freakin’ Redford in a Marvel movie? There will be many more instances of this in years to come. Marvel Studios attracts a lot of people, but it seems Kevin Feige has a golden goose he’s yet to capture: Keanu Reeves.

Reeves is no stranger to comic book properties, having starred in DC’s Constantine in 2005. Some would argue that John Wick is something of a superhero too (like the Punisher). He hasn’t appeared in a Marvel movie yet, but it’s not for lack of trying on Feige’s part. Talking to ComicBook.com, he had this to say about Reeves appearing in an MCU film:

We talk to him for almost every film we make. We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.

There were rumors he was up for the role that Jude Law played in Captain Marvel. That would have been a waste of Reeves, to be honest. Hell, it was a waste of Law. But I assume they want to find Reeves a role that he can play in several movies, like Nova or Adam Warlock. His name has even been thrown around by fans for Wolverine. While I feel that they will skew a bit younger for the next iteration of Wolverine, the seemingly ageless Reeves isn’t a bad choice for him either.

Reeves appeared in John Wick Chapter 3 this year, and will soon be heard in Toy Story 4. He made a really fun cameo in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe, and is filming Bill and Ted Face The Music to be out next year. He is everywhere recently and that is a very good thing.

I’d rather Feige and Reeves take their time and figure out something right for him to play. The MCU isn’t going away anytime soon. There is plenty of opportunity for him still.
