THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Sets Director And Supporting Cast
Marvel is going all in on their parent company’s new streaming service, Disney+. They have shows in development like Loki, WandaVision, and Hawkeye. There have even been rumors of Lady Sif, and Rocket and Groot getting shows as well. But the big one right now, seems to be The Falcon And The Winter Soldier starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Stan announced that the show would start filming in October, and now we have more information.
Deadline reports that Kari Skogland will direct all six episodes of the limited run series. Skogland is a prolific director, having helmed episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale, The Walking Dead, The Punisher, and House Of Cards among others. The fact that one director is doing all 6 episodes reinforces the notion that Disney wants these to be more like long form films than episodic television.
The report also contained something interesting concerning the supporting cast. Captain America: Civil War alums Daniel Bruhl and Emily Van Camp are both in negotiations to appear in the show. Bruhl played Baron Zemo, who brilliantly tore the Avengers apart with emotion. Van Camp played Sharon Carter – niece to Peggy and one-time love interest of Steve Rogers. Now that we know the endgame of Rogers, their kiss in Civil War can join the ranks of The Empire Strikes Back and Game Of Thrones…

After seeing Avengers: Endgame it was obvious what Sam’s journey would be in the show. But a journey isn’t necessarily a story. Bringing Zemo back and throwing Sharon Carter in the mix can give all four of them the post-Endgame story they need.
One of the biggest complaints of the MCU was that the TV and Movie sections did not integrate like everyone thought they would. The Disney+ shows will change that. Marvel Studios is producing these, so Kevin Feige is overseeing them. These do not fall under the same “TV division” that Agents Of SHIELD or the upcoming Hulu shows do. So if you are one that just watches the movies and doesn’t bother with the TV shows because they don’t connect, these will be different.
I’ve tried to send Disney 70 dollars for my Disney+ subscription already, but they won’t let me. I hope we can preorder the app soon.
