ENDGAME Writers Don’t Think You Should Trust Mysterio In SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME

If anyone is even the least bit familiar with Mysterio from the comics or the animated show, you should know that he is a big fat liar who lies. You should also know that Marvel is completely fine with misleading you in the trailers. They used fake Hulk footage in the Infinity War trailer. They used scenes that weren’t even in the movie in the Endgame trailers. The very first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer had Fury say it was “nice to meet” Spider-Man, which we now know isn’t what he said.

In the new trailer, Fury introduces the multiverse as a consequence of the snap, and says Mysterio is a hero from a different Earth. I would be willing to be anything he’s not from another Earth. In an interview with THR, Stephen McFeely echoes my sentiment.

“Thanks to the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, we know there are now multiverses for Marvel to play with.“

McFeely: “Do we?“

True, it’s Mysterio. So he could be lying.

McFeely: “That’s the thing, consider your source.“

He’s right. The two things are not mutually exclusive however. There could be a multiverse, and Mysterio could have his pants on fire. If they make him the con man that he is (and I think they will) he will use that true information to fuel his fake story. So don’t feel like you have to take Mysterio at his word to believe that the MCU now has a multiverse. It still can happen, with Mysterio lying. I mean his name is Mysterio! He likes to lie and be mysterious.

A multiverse would make sense, in that it would be the easiest way to introduce the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the MCU. That is not the only way however, so if it is not true, those introductions can still happen.

Audiences demand a higher class of superhero movie now. They can get a bit complex. I mean if a primetime network show like The Flash over on the CW can get away with it, so can the MCU.

The bottom line is that you should trust nothing you hear Mysterio say or do, but you can still hold out hope for a multiverse if that is your wish. The things are not related, as much as Marvel and Sony are trying to sell them to be.

Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters July 2nd.
