Boyega Says THE RISE OF SKYWALKER ‘Ends Everything,’ Doesn’t Expect To Play Finn Ever Again
I find there is a certain long-term relationship that exists between Star Wars fans, the cast and crew. It’s the sort of relationship that really doesn’t seem to exist with most other franchises out there. It seems to be something that stays with actors in particular for the rest of their lives. With the Sequel Trilogy and the Skywalker Saga as a whole finally coming to a close at the end of this year with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the relationship fans have with the latest generation of leads in these films is about to change.
Recently, we were given a tease that we might get to see more of some of the newer characters introduced to the Star Wars galaxy– like Rey, Finn, and Poe. But at least one of those three isn’t expecting to ever venture into that galaxy far, far away again.
In a new interview with MTV News, star John Boyega the actor stated:
“Honestly, the bottom of my heart, I don’t think I am. I don’t think I am. I feel like it’s- I really do feel that way. Honestly, no, seriously, I just–this is really that movie, I think everyone doesn’t believe it, but this is that war that just ends everything. So I’m just like, wow, you know?“

I’m not entirely sure what I think of Boyega’s statement here. On the one hand, I do believe that he’s being honest with his thoughts and how The Rise of Skywalker will ultimately wrap up the saga that started all the way back in 1977. But I also know that Lucasfilm would be silly not to keep some of these characters on standby for future adventures, since they’ve been embraced as warmly as they have been and we know Hollywood isn’t keen to toss aside any potential money-makers. So as the saying goes, “Never say never.”
But what if one of the reasons he isn’t expecting to return is because Finn doesn’t survive Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Now that would be an unexpected twist, and maybe these comments will one day look like the actor doing a bit of foreshadowing. We shall see.
