TITANS: Bruce Wayne Is Coming, His Name Is Iain Glen
An old Bruce Wayne is coming to television! After casting announcements like Deathstroke and his family(EIC MFR exclusively revealed Ravager), as well as Superboy, you’d think the awesomeness of the characters coming to DC Universe’s TITANS would have come to an end. But the fun continues, with Iain Glen coming to the show to portray Bruce Wayne in a recurring role as revealed by Deadline.
Glen is currently best known for his role in Game of Thrones as Jorah Mormont, a mercenary knight. He’ll returned to that series last night for the start of its final season. He also has credits in Downtown Abbey, the Resident Evil franchise, The Iron Lady, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Kick Ass 2, and My Cousin Rachel. Glen also has a long history on the stage, with performances of note being Uncle Vanya, The Crucible, Hedda Gabler, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Blue Room, Martin Guerre, and Hamlet. He’s won the Bancroft Medal at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and made his Royal Shakespeare Company debut in 1994 with a performance in Mathew Warchus’ production of Henry V.
Glen will portray an older version of Bruce Wayne. His character description is as follows:
“After decades of fighting crime as Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne is just as driven to protect Gotham from evil as he was in his prime. Needing to reconcile his relationship with Dick Grayson, the duo hope to forge a new dynamic as Bruce tries to help his former sidekick and the Titans achieve success.”
It sounds like Wayne will be taking a mentorship role with the Titans team. The Titans include Robin, aka Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), the hot-tempered alien princess Starfire (Anna Diop), the mysterious empath Raven (Teagan Croft), Jason Todd (Curran Walters) and the green-skinned shape-shifter Beast Boy (Ryan Potter). It’s unknown at this point if Glen will dawn the caped crusader’s costume, but his take will be different from the ones we see currently. We’ve got Gotham‘s teenaged Bruce Wayne, Matt Reeves’ new Batman in The Batman, and the previous DC Cinematic Universe Batman, Ben Affleck in Justice League, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad.
