AMERICAN HORROR STORY: 1984 Is The Title Of Season 9

Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

American Horror Story is going back to the past, 1984 to be specific. It seems, just like the new Wonder Woman movie, that the show will tackle 80’s nostalgia. In a teaser video on Instagram, creator Ryan Murphy showed a sneak peak of the upcoming season, and released the simple title for it. Check it out below.

AHS SEASON 9 is called…

A post shared by Ryan Murphy (@mrrpmurphy) on

The video features a young woman running through the woods being chased by assumedly a killer. The woman eventually hides behind a door only to have the man chasing her slash a knife through it. So it’s going for a slasher theme? Creepy.

American Horror Story: 1984 won’t be the last season for the show, FX renewed the popular anthology series for two more seasons before the premiere of the eighth season, American Horror Story: Apocalypse. With Disney taking over the FX brand, we’ll have to wait and see what they choose to do with it after that tenth season.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse tackled crossovers with witches. The show incorporates a lot of the same actors portraying different characters from season to season, but sometimes brings them back into new seasons. Its popularity has grown, and resulted in a spin-off, American Crime Story.

I’ve never had much interest in American Horror Story, it just having the word “horror” in the title makes me not want to check it out. But the new season title makes me intrigued. Especially in the politically charged culture we live in today, as well as with advertisements popping up for something you were just talking about. It draws me back to the novel by George Orwell 1984. I’ll be following the season closely to see if it incorporates some similar themes.

Are you excited for the new season of American Horror Story? Does the season’s title intrigue you? Let us know in the comments below!
