Marvel President Addresses When We’ll Get Our First Major Update on Their Phase 4 Plans

Read Time:2 Minute, 14 Second

If you are dying to hear about what Marvel Studios is planning post-Infinity Saga, you’re going to have to sit tight a little while longer. IGN sat down with the studio’s president Kevin Feige at the Avengers: Endgame press junket and while he told them the studio has a five year plan, he said fans won’t hear about it until after Spider-Man: Far From Home. When asked if they would talk about it at Comic-Con in July, Feige kept tight lipped:

“I don’t wanna be annoying, but I think it … In a certain way, that is also sort of a post-Endgame spoiler, I will say all of the post Comic-Con, post Spider-Man: Far From Home stuff, we … We’re gonna keep making movies. We’re gonna still keep making movies after these two. And we will talk about them soon after Spider-Man: Far From Home comes out.”

There have been numerous reports and news about films in development at the House of Ideas, including Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2, The Eternals, Captain Marvel 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, but no official announcement from Marvel on any of them. Black Widow is set to start filming in June, a month before, according to Feige, an official announcement from the studio about the film.

Then there are the properties Marvel Studios just got back from Disney’s purchase of the majority of the assets from 21st Century Fox, including the 20th Century Fox film studio which owned the film rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four among others. Earlier today, we reported on some other recent comments by Feige that seem to indicate that the wait to see those new arrivals in the MCU will be a lengthy one.

He added more on that idea here, when asked if it may be a few years until those characters touch ground in the universe:

“Probably. Probably, only because, as you’ve heard me say before, until it was all done, we literally couldn’t do anything,” Feige said. “So essentially, it’s sort of Day One. But during that time, we have built and fleshed out our five-year plan of where we’re heading, the first few years of which we’ll be announcing, as I said, relatively soon, after these next two movies.”

As we’ve seen following 11 years of Marvel Studios films, five years goes by in a snap.
