Dooku: Jedi Lost Cover - Asajj Ventress and Dooku present

STAR WARS Announces Its First Audio Drama, DOOKU: JEDI LOST

Read Time:2 Minute, 57 Second

On Wednesday it was announced by StarWars.com that Cavan Scott had written a script exploring Count Dooku’s backstory, entitled Jedi Lost. Asajj Ventress will be included, and it will focus on her trying to find out more about Dooku’s past. You might be wondering why a script? This story will be the first of its kind, it’s written exclusively to be read out loud. There might be a print edition coming, but not before the audio only edition comes out. As Scott said on Twitter, it’s a movie written for your ears. The audio drama will be out April 30th!

We were also treated to the plot synopsis by Del Rey Star Wars! Check it out below:

Delve into the history of the sinister Count Dooku in this audio original set in a galaxy far, far away….

Darth Tyranus. Count of Serenno. Leader of the Separatists. A red saber unsheathed in the dark. But who was he, before he became the right hand of the Sith? As Dooku courts a new apprentice, the hidden truth of the Sith Lord’s past begins to come to light.

Dooku’s life began as one of privilege—born within the stony walls of his family’s estate, orbited by the Funeral Moon where the bones of his ancestors lie interred. But soon his Jedi abilities are recognized, and he is taken from his home to be trained in the ways of the Force by the legendary Master Yoda. As he hones his power, Dooku rises through the ranks, befriending fellow Jedi Sifo-Dyas and taking a padawan of his own, the promising Qui-Gon Jinn—and tries to forget the life that he once led. But he finds himself drawn by a strange fascination with the Jedi Master Lene Kostana, and the mission she undertakes for the Order: finding and studying ancient relics of the Sith, in preparation for the eventual return of the deadliest enemies the Jedi have ever faced.

Caught between the world of the Jedi, the ancient responsibilities of his lost home, and the alluring power of the relics, Dooku struggles to stay in the light—even as the darkness begins to fall.

There is a full cast for the audio drama, varying it from a typical audiobook with a single reader. Here’s the cast: Orlagh Cassidy as Asajj Ventress, Euan Morton as Dooku, Pete Bradbury as Gretz Droom, Jonathan Davis as Qui-Gon Jinn, Neil Hellegers as Ramil, Sean Kenin as Sifo-Dyas, January LaVoy as Jor Aerith, Saskia Maarleveld as Jenza, Carol Monda as Lene Kostana, Robert Petkoff as Ky Narec, Rebecca Soler as Yula Braylon and Marc Thompson as Yoda!

So, we’ve got Dooku’s origin, Asajj Ventress, a funeral moon, Sifo-Dyas(finally), and Qui-Got Jinn. Presumably this drama will start off when Dooku and Ventress first meet, as the summary says it’ll be when Dooku is courting a new apprentice. We will figure out why Dooku switches from the Jedi to the Sith which I’m excited about. Oh, and Scott also says we’ll find out Dooku’s first name. We’re getting tons of prequel era material in a few short months and it is awesome. Queen’s Shadow was out at the beginning of this month, and Master and Apprentice will be out April 15th.

  1. […] Dooku: Jedi Lost reveals the secrets of Darth Tyrannus, or before he was a member of the dark side, Count Dooku. Dooku traverses every corner of the Jedi Order in this book, as we see his development from Jedi initiate to Jedi master, to the time he leaves the order and begins to delve towards the dark side of the force. The story hops across different time periods, but the plot surprisingly manages to stay connected. The cast, while they don’t sound like their counterparts from television or films, is absolutely great, and the distinction between the many actors involved helps you stay on track with who’s who in this audio drama. The story is “narrated” by Asajj Ventress, as it follows her learning about Dooku and the start of their relationship. […]
