Back on March 1, 2019 Zack Snyder announced that he would be holding Director Cut screenings for Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The event was a three-day special and took place this past weekend. And during the Q & A session Snyder was asked to spill the beans on topics such as his cut of The Justice League and his plans for the overall cinematic universe after BVS. One of the bigger takeaways was his version of the justice league where he described it as “the really scary version.”
And almost all of it centers on the Knightmare sequence from BvS!
He spoke about a post-apocalyptic world where Flash, Batman and (half of) Cyborg were the surviving members of the Justice League and Darkseid kills Lois Lane. Her death devastates Superman causing him to go evil and succumb to the Anti-Life Equation. Calling back to when the Flash travels back in time to see Batman in the Bat cave telling him that Lois was the “key.” It was a very Injustice-esque vision Snyder had in his mind and it would all make sense if the universe would have played out under his watch.
Additionally, after the session a fan got to ask Snyder a question on more of a one-on-one basis during an autograph session. The fan asked about the Snyder Cut and in response Snyder said, “The movie is done, it exists.” If this does not get fans riled up to plead with Warner Bros. to release it, I don’t know what will.
I am interested to see the Snyder cut myself but out of shear fandom for DC and its characters. Snyder’s vision of the DCEU seems to be well thought out and if given the chance maybe properly executed. Unfortunately, it seems at least for now viewers will not see this version.
If this topic interests you, stay tuned. Because on today’s episode of our flagship show, The Revengers Podcast, the trio of hosts will be discussing these aborted plans.
What did you think of Snyder’s comments and revelations?
