RUMOR: STAR WARS Movies Will Take Place in Old Republic
In 1977 the world was introduced to the all powerful and ever lasting Star Wars franchise. Since then they have released multiple films, including prequels and spin-offs, and Episode IX of the primary saga will be arriving later this year. And with more releases on the way the focus seems to be shifting. Current Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff seem to be focusing on the Old Republic for their Star Wars trilogy.
Comicbook.com and Star Wars News Net recently reported from one of its sources that “has worked on every Disney Star Wars film,” and is “95%” that the new movies will take place in the Old Republic. Some fans maybe okay with this decision and some may ask what for? Well, that source goes on to say, “Disney wants to open up the Star Wars timeline and appeal to a more ‘Game of Throne’ style audience.” If true, this is completely understandable considering the rise in popularity for the Game of Thrones series.
The source always says, “hundreds of years prior to the Skywalkers.” And a more of an “Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings,” tone to it. Again, not a bad blueprint to follow for a franchise that is arguably the most famous movie franchise in history (bold claim but I have confidence it in). So, for those die-hard Star Wars fans (98% of Americans) no need to worry, the franchise appears to be upward and onward.B
Star Wars: Episode IX in theaters December 20.
