Chella Man Will Play Jericho On TITANS, Reacts To Landmark Casting
Titans has been busy the past week casting Deathstroke and his family. They cast Esai Morales as Deathstroke/Slade Wilson last week, and yesterday EIC MFR revealed Chelsea Zhang will be taking on Ravager/Rose Wilson. Yesterday as well, DC Comics revealed Chella Man has been cast as Jericho/Joseph Wilson.
Jericho is a mute superhero who can possess anyone with a look. He was kidnapped as a child by a group of assassins who severed his vocal chords. His father attempted to rescue him, but failed to do so in time to prevent an assassin from slashing Jericho’s throat. Jericho survived, but was rendered mute. His story from the comics gives him his powers after biological manipulation done on him by his father when he was also a child. The official description for Jericho’s character on the show is as follows.
Son of the infamous DC villain Deathstroke (played by Esai Morales), Joseph Wilson is the Titan known as Jericho. Mute after his father failed to rescue him from having his vocal cords severed by assassins, Jericho has the unique ability to possess anyone just by making eye contact. This gentle natured yet proud hero has proven himself a formidable Titan.
Man is deaf, transgender, Chinese and Jewish, with not much of a history in acting as of yet. His YouTube presence is strong, with 173,000 following him online. He is a model represented by IMG. He was excited to share the news on Twitter to share the following message:
“SECRET’S OUT! It is UNREAL to announce I will be making my acting debut as Jericho on Season 2 Titans! As a trans, Deaf, Jewish POC, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences. It’s a dream come true as I will now be able to showcase this power on the Titans.”
Titans is the first show exclusively for DC Universe, DC’s streaming service. It concluded its first season back in December with a weird “season finale”. The show is now filming its second season, so we might be looking at the second season premiering around the same time this fall. I know I was mixed on Titans like a lot of people, so I hope this second season can start and end strong.
