RUMORS: BLACK ADAM To Feature Hawkman, With A Script Inspired By ‘The Dark Age’?

Read Time:1 Minute, 51 Second

A Black Adam movie has been in the works since 2017, yet we’ve seen nothing of him in the DC Cinematic Universe up to this point. Dwayne Johnson was attached to the role in 2014, when it was expected he’d be the villain in Shazam!, but it was later revealed that he’d skip that movie and instead get a solo film. Now let’s jump to the present day, because there’s a wealth of big rumors about Johnson’s first foray into the Worlds of DC.

We Got This Covered has said Johnson’s Black Adam will be appearing in a potential Shazam! 3. According to them, Warner Bros. is wanting Johnson to star first in a Black Adam solo film, and we have some supposed details of the script for that solo film from Geeks World Wide.

The release of the Black Adam solo film appears to be planned for after the release of the first sequel to Shazam! This allows for both characters to be fully developed before finally confronting each other in the conclusion of a trilogy. It shows Warner Bros. is superbly confident in Shazam!, and is working on mapping out the Shazam family and their adventures. The earliest we could see Shazam! 3 would be 2022, if Shazam! 2 and Shazam! 3 are filmed back to back. Shazam! 2 has not been green-lit yet though, so nothing is promised.

Now, with regard to the Black Adam script. GWW has heard the latest draft of the script will pull from Black Adam: The Dark Age book by Peter Tomasi and Doug Mahnke. The book follows Tete-Adam as he tries to resurrect his deceased wife and restore his lost powers. Attempting both of these brings in the Justice Society of America to try and stop him. This would explain That Hashtag Show‘s recent report that the script would feature Hawkman, Atom Smasher and Stargirl. Warner Bros. is looking to cast Carter Hall (male age 30-39), and Atom Smasher(male age 20-29) and Stargirl(female age 20-29). Black Adam is looking to start production in March 2020, and is looking for a director.
