X-MEN Producer Confirms Kevin Feige Is Taking Over The Franchise From Fox

Read Time:1 Minute, 38 Second

In case anyone has been sleeping under a rock since late 2017, 20th Century Fox is in the process of being purchased by Walt Disney Studios. As a result, the hundreds of thousands of films and numerous franchises under the Fox branch will now be owned by Disney. Most casual audiences following this news however have been focusing on how this library will include the rights to countless characters from Marvel Comics from the corners of the X-Men and Fantastic Four IPs. When the merger is complete, naturally fans will begin to see these many characters slowly introduced into the MCU in the coming years.

After several feeble attempts to pretend like this transition isn’t torpedoing most X-Men related films previously planned at Fox, one producer has finally relented and admitted what we all already know. And no, this producer isn’t Simon Kinberg. We’ve already reported on one of her quotes on the subject earlier this week, but producer Lauren Shuler Donner spoke at TCA, stating, “Kevin (Feige) and I started the first movie, he worked for me, he has a great story sense when it comes to weaving each world together, I trust him and I trust where he will take it.

When asked if she would continue working on the X-Men films after the property folds over to Disney, Donner answered, “I don’t know, I don’t think so, certainly in name credit, it’s up to Kevin (Feige). I don’t know what Kevin is thinking, I think he’s still dealing with the wealth of characters and trying to make sense of it all.

Additionally, Donner finally confirmed that the fate of the Gambit film starring Channing Tatum now lies in the hands of the Mouse. No director is attached to the project and is no longer bubbling in development. If the movie happens, it will be under the care of Marvel Studios.
