Box Office: Shyamalan’s GLASS Remains Half Full
Is there a record for a film with the most weeks at number one without crossing $100 million? I’m sure somebody somewhere is keeping track of that. I ask because Glass has been in the top spot for three weeks and still hasn’t crossed the century mark.
This weekend Glass, M. Night Shyamalan’s sequel to Unbreakable and Split sits at number one for the third week in a row with $9.5 million. It’s now at $88 million domestic.
Holding steady at number two is The Upside. The Kevin Hart / Bryan Cranston comedy brought in another $8.8 million this weekend bringing its domestic total to $75 million.
Ms Bala, the sole new wide release this weekend, only managed a number three opening and $6.7 million.
WB/DC’s Aquaman fell one spot to number four with $4.7 million. It’s now at a robust $323.5 million domestic.
Holding steady at number five is the spectacular Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It’s seems like audiences have finally realized they need to see this excellent film. It earned another $4.4 million this weekend bringing the domestic total to $175.2 million.
As you can see, there wasn’t a whole lot going on at the box office this weekend, but don’t expect that to carry over to next week when the highly anticipated sequel The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part hits theaters.
