RUMOR: Marvel’s BLACK WIDOW Solo Movie To Start Filming In Late February
Ever since she was introduced to the MCU nine years ago in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2, fans have wanted to see Scarlett Johansson lead her own Black Widow solo film. Notable progress on that front was made last year when Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland signed on to helm the spy flick. Then after the late summer fiasco with James Gunn took place and forced Marvel Studios to put Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 on the backburner, the studio shifted gears to prioritize Black Widow as its next big production. Now another small, but important update on the film has surfaced!
The GWW and Omega Underground have come together to report that production on Black Widow is set to begin on February 28th in Croatia and Miami, Florida. The site adds that this backs up previous reports from other sites that the film was set to have production throughout March 2019.
“A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one,” to quote one Chancellor Palpatine. If the rumor is true, this film is filming much sooner than I expected it to. It’s been awhile since I personally had to write anything about Black Widow here at RTF myself so I vaguely recall the plans being that the film would start filming later this summer. However, assuming that Shortland and her team aren’t being rushed to the sets, I don’t see any reason to worry about this.
