The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Are Getting Rebooted…Again

Read Time:1 Minute, 58 Second

Mooooove over Spider-Man! There is a new franchise that has the crown for “Getting Rebooted WAY Too Fast”: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Variety reports that Paramount is looking to start the franchise over again. Again.

This apparently comes after the sequel to the last reboot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows failed to live up to expectations. So the same production team (Michael Bay’s production team) is handling the reboot.

Andrew Dodge (Bad Words) has been hired to write the script, but did anyone stop and think that the problem might not be the script, but the production team? Taking it out of Bay’s hands might be a healthy move for the franchise, no? Maybe I’m just grumpy.

It is understandable as the Turtles are a hot property. They work very well on TV. From the old cartoon to the current Nickelodeon show, there is proof that there is a market for these characters. To this day, one of the greatest videogames ever made was Turtles In Time for Super Nintendo. They even showed up in the last Injustice game! They get to fight Batman!

I mean, it is sort of a theme with the Turtles. When one iteration doesn’t work, try again. Cross them over with the Power Rangers and see if that works! (It didn’t).

The Ninja Turtles might be the only ones in history to ever pull off being with both the Power Rangers and the Justice League! They could very well be responsible for the comics crossover! (Yes I know it’s a different Power Rangers team, don’t @ me).

But I digress.

I am an old man who is partial to the practical suits from the original movie, instead of the CGI versions of the new ones. I assume Paramount will go with CGI again, but I hope the look is a little less radical (no pun intended) than previous.

If they want to be really tongue and cheek, they should hire Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to play villainous roles in the movie, just as a little nod to another franchise that gets rebooted often.

Whatever happens, people will show up. These characters are beloved in any iteration. I just hope someone decides to do right by them.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will return.
