Box Office: RALPH Wrecks the Competition Yet Again!
If you came here looking for change or even a small variation from last week’s box office, I’m afraid you’ll have to look elsewhere, as nothing in the top five moved this week. In fact, you’ll have to go all the way down to number seven on the top ten chart below before you’ll see any movement from last week.
If I were a lazy person, I could just copy and paste my Box Office article from last week and change the numbers; however, I’m not, so I’ll try and make this as different as I can. Maybe I’ll write it in Pig Latin…
Is-Thay eek-way Isney-Day’s Alph-Ray… forget it. That’s a pain in the neck. I’ll just go with normal English.
This week Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet three-peated at number one with $16.1 million. That brings the sequel’s domestic total to a decent $140.8 million. It’s now about $19 million past where Wreck it Ralph was at this point, so it should have no problem exceeding the originals $189.4 million domestic total.
Dr Seuss’ The Grinch held steady at number two adding an additional $15.1 million. It’s now at $223.4 million. I don’t know why I’m so shocked at this, but I am. It just seems like a lot of money for such a mediocre film. I supposed these are the times we live in…
With another $10.3 million Creed II is still on pace to outperform its predecessor. It’s now at $96.4 million.
With another $6.8 million, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is still on pace to be the lowest grossing film in J. K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. It’s now at $145.2 million.
With another $6 million Bohemian Rhapsody is still on pace to have everyone shocked that it’s made as much money as it has. I don’t know why everyone’s so surprised. It was made to be a crowdpleaser, and that’s exactly what it’s doing, pleasing a lot of fans. It’s now at $173.5 million.
In international news, Aquaman debuted in China to a fantastic $93.6 million, making it the number one film worldwide.
Next week brings the release of Sony’s highly anticipated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Advanced word as been great, with many people calling it the best Spidey film yet. I can’t wait to see this. I already have my tix for a Sunday morning show.
Let us know in the comments below when you’ll be checking it out!
With no major competition debuting next week, Ralph Breaks the Internet should maintain the top spot.
