Shyamalan Calls GLASS His Most Challenging Film To Make, Sequels Unlikely

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

With Glass hitting theaters next month, eyes are once again turning towards its filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. A few days ago, Toby Kebbell joined the cast of Shyamalan’s upcoming thriller series for Apple and now the director seems to be gearing up for promotional interviews for his latest film.

In a new interview with Digital Spy, Shyamalan revealed that his unique superhero trilogy have each been the three most difficult films of his career.

He stated:

It was the most difficult movie to shoot. Do you know what the irony is? Unbreakable was the most difficult movie at that time, of course I’d only directed three by then, but that was by far the most difficult movie. Then Split was the most difficult movie that I’ve ever done because it was just so intense and we were doing it at a such a low budget and there was no room for error, I was an anxious wreck the entire time. Then Glass became, without a doubt, the most difficult movie. It’s super ambitious for its budget and the days. There was a lot of people and a lot of characters to arc.

While a lot of fans are excited to see several of Shyamalan’s best characters finally collide on the big screen after the twist ending of Split a couple years ago, don’t expect to see them again anytime soon after Glass hits theaters.

I don’t want to relive stuff and I don’t want to be an opportunist, that’s not the relationship that I have with the audience, that I aspire to,” Shyamalan explained. “My aspiration is they know they’re going to get an original thriller every single time. That’s where my tastes go, so I’m going to say no [to another movie] right now.

If this truly is the last time we see these characters on the big screen for the foreseeable future, I really hope Glass winds up being a high note to go out on.
