ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL Will Have Over 20 Minutes Of New Footage

Read Time:2 Minute, 3 Second

Usually when a studio recycles and rebrands a movie, it is an obvious money grab. Once Upon A Deadpool is different in that it is a subtle money grab, with some effort put into it.

For those that don’t know, there’s a PG-13 re-release of Deadpool 2 on the way. It is framed like The Princess Bride with Deadpool reading the story of Deadpool to a grown up (and held hostage) Fred Savage. Of course, this gives the Deadpool team the chance to do what they do best – promotion. The newest one has Julian Dennison (Firefist) promote the new cut of the movie. Dennison reveals that there will be over 20 minutes of brand new footage. Thanks to ComicBook.com, you can see it below.

I am usually not a fan of this sort of thing at all. But this has a lot of charm to it. The Deadpool franchise is great at calling themselves out, and this is no exception. That is why a portion of the proceeds will go to cancer….well, a charity to help fight cancer. Otherwise, that would be awful.

Is 20 new minutes and a donation to charity enough for you to buy a ticket?

Once Upon A Deadpool hits theaters December 12.

To kick off the holiday season audiences of almost all ages will soon be able to enjoy the Merc with the Mouth’s reimagining of Deadpool 2 filtered through the prism of childlike innocence. “Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006,” Ryan Reynolds told Deadline. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…” Fred Savage will join Reynolds in new scenes for ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL in an homage to Savage’s starring role in the 1987 bedtime-story classic THE PRINCESS BRIDE. Fred remarked, “while my participation in this film was anything but voluntary, I am happy to learn that Fudge Cancer will be the beneficiary of this shameless cash grab” For every ticket sold, $1 will go to the charity Fudge Cancer – previously known as F*ck Cancer, who have graciously changed their name to be more PG-13 friendly for the 12 days of Once Upon A Deadpool’s release.
