GEARS OF WAR Movie Finds Its Screenwriter

Read Time:1 Minute, 15 Second

Okay, I’ll admit it: I’ve never played a single Gears of War game. Growing up in the 2000’s, I always leaned more towards Sony and Nintendo’s video gaming options over the XBox and XBox 360. So while I know of the games, I barely know anything about them. I have no idea whether or not those games are goldmine for a Hollywood movie adaptation. Still, a Gears of War movie is in the works and it now has a new screenwriter.

The Wrap reports that Universal Studios have tapped Collide and xXx: Return of Xander Cage writer F. Scott Fraizer to pen the script for Gears of War. Aside from Fraizer, other known names attached to the film include Dylan Clark (who was involved with the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy) and series co-creator Rod Fergusson who will produce the film together. Scott Stuber will executive produce the film.

I tend to be an optimistic guy when it comes to future video game movie adaptations. While the egg has yet to fully crack on the big screen, I think recent attempts have come closer and closer to pulling it off and it looks like next year’s Detective Pikachu will probably pull it off. After all, the recent Castlevania series has finally figured it out on Netflix for animated shows. Hopefully the same will eventually be said about Gears of War whenever that hits theaters.
