“This December, get ready for a fairy tale that gives zero F’s.”
How’s that for a tagline for a PG-13 Deadpool movie?
We were all a little bit caught off guard when Fox announced that it’d be re-releasing Deadpool 2 into theaters as a PG-13 holiday event, but as more information has come in it all makes a little more sense. This remixed version of the film, which will contain new footage, will be called Once Upon A Deadpool, and now we’ve got our first official look at what’s in store for us when it arrives in theaters next month for a limited run.
You can check out the Once Upon A Deadpool trailer right here:
Ok, I’ll admit it: That last line delivered by Fred Savage made me laugh out loud quite a bit.
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that Fred Savage plays a part in some of the added content we can look forward to? And is it interesting to see how this homage to The Princess Bride is actually made all the more potent by the fact that the world lost of the screenwriter of that beloved film, Mr. William Goldman, mere days ago? Lots of notable things at play here, and Once Upon A Deadpool seems like a trip worth (re)taking.
Aside from the obvious charms of watching the film in this new form, there’s a humanitarian incentive, too:
For every ticket sold, $1 will go to the charity Fudge Cancer – previously known as Fuck Cancer, who have graciously changed their name to be more PG-13 friendly for the 12 days of ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL’S release.
What’d you think of our first official look at this reissue of Deadpool 2? Are you planning on catching this in theaters? Let us know!
