STRANGER THINGS: Harbour Talks About The Series Getting A Satisfying Conclusion

Read Time:2 Minute, 12 Second

Stranger Things is a show filled with mystery and world building. Shows that get deep in mythology like that, often leaves a lot unanswered. Or, they’re forced to answer questions they had no intention of answering when they asked them, and the answers are less than satisfactory (*cough* LOST *cough*). But David Harbour – who plays Hopper on the series, says that Stranger Things has a set conclusion.

Harbour took to Instagram to announce that the third season of the hit Netflix show has wrapped filming.

He also talked to CNET, and said that there is a natural conclusion to the series.

“I feel very proud of that because we’re not going to get sort of lost in our story and leave these strands. We’re going to tie things up.

We’re either going to Season 4 or Season 5. It’s still being debated. I do know the arc of the story, though. This was something that I discussed with [show creators] the Duffer brothers right from Day One.”

He then fell into a trope that most people do when talking about art – he compared it to the original Star Wars trilogy:

“Like Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi have an arc to them; I think Stranger Things, be it season 4 or season 5, has an arc to it that I understand.”

Now that doesn’t mean it will be a perfect ending, nor does that mean that every single thing will get a satisfying answer. It just means that the Duffer brothers know where their destination is. They might take a few detours on the road trip to get there however.

Harbour’s comments also confirm that Season 3 won’t be the last season. We have a bit of a longer wait for the new season than we did in between Season 1 and Season 2. But hopefully we will get a trailer soon, now that filming is complete.

Ending a television show is difficult. There will always be someone upset by how it ended. Shows like How I Met Your Mother and LOST have a ton of upset fans. Though there are people that loved the endings too. Then you have shows like Breaking Bad and Monk that ended about as well as it possibly could have. Yet there are still people who are not satisfied with those. Regardless of how Stranger Things ends, someone is likely to be upset. So the Duffer brothers should just tell the story they always set out to tell.

The third season of Stranger Things will stream on Netflix some time next year.
