It’s been a while since we last heard news about the third season of Westworld. Previously Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul joined the cast and now another new addition to the cast is rumored to be happening! Well, sort of.
ThatHashtagShow reports that HBO “has interest in veteran actor Antonio Banderas for a regular role in Westworld’s third season.” While details remain scarce over what character the company is rumored to be interested in having Banderas play, the site added that “the role is for the show’s villain, and is said to be in the same vein as Javier Bardem’s character in Skyfall.”
So from the site’s exact wording, I doubt HBO have gotten very far in the process of negotiating with Banderas over him joining the show yet. If anything, they might be in early stages of negotiating right now? Or I could be totally wrong and this might be very close to a done deal already.
Either way, Banderas is a great pick. I’m especially intrigued by the comparison to Bardem’s villain in Skyfall with this potential new villain character, as I’m guessing the biggest takeaway would likely be his demented, Joker-esque personality. While I’m sure I’ve seen Banderas in a villainous role once or twice before, I don’t recall ever seeing him venture off into a role like that, so it would be exciting to see him dabble about with such a character on Westworld.
What do you think though? Do you hope Banderas joins Westworld? Be sure to comment down below!
