RUMOR: Carl Weathers Has Been Cast In THE MANDALORIAN

Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second

Whether you are of the generation that knows him as Apollo Creed, or the one that knows him as golf trainer Chubbs Peterson, Carl Weathers is a Hollywood legend. He is about to add another impressive property to his catalogue: Star Wars. Weathers has been rumored to have a role in Jon Favreau’s new show The Mandalorian.

MakingStarWars took to the latest episode of their podcast to say as such. They are usually pretty reliable with their information over there, so while you should still take this with a grain of salt, it seems pretty likely.

MSW makes it a point to say that Weathers isn’t playing the main protagonist. So he’s not the one in the armor. That’s not say he won’t be in some kind of armor however. Weathers is such a versatile actor, that it is tough to pin down exactly who he could be playing. It could be anyone from a mentor, to a villain.

The list of directors for the show is already impressive, including the talents of Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, and Bryce Dallas Howard (daughter of Solo director Ron Howard). The latter of the two are also rumored to have roles in the show as well.

This will be the first Star Wars show to hit Disney’s streaming service Disney Plus. It was recently announced that a Rogue One prequel focusing on Cassian Andor is in development too, but that is some time off now.

While Apollo Creed’s son gets revenge on the man who killed him soon, it’ll still be awhile before we see Weathers in the galaxy far, far, away.

The Mandalorian is expected to hit Disney Plus sometime next year.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
