ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL – New Details About The PG-13 Cut Have Been Revealed

Read Time:2 Minute, 0 Second

We can’t stop this from happening. So let’s make the most of it. The Deadpool franchise is unabashedly rated R. This year we saw Deadpool 2 do very well at the box office, and tease an X-Force spinoff. But before that, we will see a recut version of Deadpool 2 that is PG-13 titled Once Upon A Deadpool.

Deadline has a few more details on the project, including the title. The most important thing is that one dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to the F*ck Cancer campaign, appropriately re-titled “Fudge Cancer” for this event. That right there makes the existence of this cut okay.

Most of the film will be re-cut Deadpool 2 scenes, but there will be new scenes – 8 of them to be exact – to reframe the film in the style of The Princess Bride, with Deadpool telling the story to a grown up Fred Savage. That part was a condition in which Ryan Reynolds agreed to a PG-13 version of Deadpool.

“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006. I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”

Fred Savage played along with the notion of the PG-13 version saying:

“While my participation in this film was anything but voluntary. I am happy to learn that Fudge Cancer will be the beneficiary of this shameless cash grab.”

The new scenes were filmed quickly in what is being described as “a single hectic day of guerrilla-style filmmaking.

Deadpool is the most successful R-Rated movie of all time, in terms of box office. Deadpool 2 is the second most successful R-Rated movie of all time, in terms of box office. Why touch that formula? To help cancer, and get one last joke in there is worth it, apparently.

If Ryan Reynolds is okay with this, (and he is), then we should be too.

Will you be seeing Once Upon A Deadpool in theaters? Or will you just watch your copy of Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut instead?
