Matt Reeves Producing Pilot Episode For A New NBC Drama Series

Read Time:1 Minute, 36 Second

Director Matt Reeves is an interesting figure in Hollywood these days. While Reeves isn’t necessarily seen as an outright ‘auteur’ in the same way other big name directors like Christopher Nolan, Denis Villeneuve or Wes Anderson are, he’s best known today for his two Planet of the Apes films and the remarkable character work he gave those films while showcasing impressive directing chops on a visual level to match. And it’s also worth remembering his involvement with the show Felicity back in the 90s.

Keeping in line with Reeves’ history with television, it’s not a big shock to hear that the man is at it again! Variety reports that he is now set to produce the pilot episode for a new drama series titled Ordinary Joe for NBC. And here’s the kicker- Reeves has been working on the idea for this show for over a decade. Talk about commitment!

The site provided the following synopsis:

The series begins with the titular Joe facing a dramatic crossroads: Will he choose love, loyalty, or his artistic passion? It then jumps forward 10 years and follows three different paths Joe’s life takes based on each choice he could have made a decade earlier.

Is it just me or does this description sound vaguely similar to the iconic Star Trek: The Next Generation series finale episode All Good Things…? Obvious there’s a bit of a difference in that this show seems like it will be jumping back and forth in three parallel timelines rather than jumping back and forth into three different points in Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s life. Either way, I find the idea intriguing. We’ll see how it turns out!

What do you think? Does Ordinary Joe sound like a show you might be interested in watching? Be sure to chime in down below!
