Josh Whitehouse Joins Cast Of HBO’s GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series

Read Time:1 Minute, 18 Second

Well, that didn’t take very long, did it? Just one day after word came out that Mulholland Drive alum Naomi Watts had signed on for the lead role in the pilot episode of HBO’s still untitled Game of Thrones prequel series, we now know a second actor that will star in the show!

Deadline reports that actor Josh Whitehouse (Poldark, Northern Soul) another lead role for the pilot episode of the upcoming series. Beyond that, little else is known about Whitehouse’s character. THR notes, “There are no current details on the character he’s playing; it’s described as a key role, though not the central male lead.

If The Powers That Be keep this up, it probably won’t be too long of a wait before we hear who will play the central male lead of the show. Still, in these earliest stages of development, it feels a bit impossible not to wonder who Watts and Whitehouse are both playing? Could one of them perhaps be an incredibly distant ancestor to one of the central families that dominate the story of Game of Thrones, such as a Lannister or Stark?

Assuming new showrunner and writer Jane Goldman stays true to the existing lore from her co-creator and original author George R.R. Martin, that definitely seems likely. I could definitely see Whitehouse playing someone such as a young Bran the Builder (the founder of House Stark) or Lann the Clever (the ancestor of House Lannister).
