Eiza Gonzalez And Rebecca Hall Join GODZILLA VS. KONG

Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

The MonsterVerse continues to amass an impressive cast of actors for its films. Say whatever you will about the 2014 Godzilla film or last year’s Kong: Skull Island, both films boasted some seriously talented actors among their ranks. The same goes for next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and then 2020’s follow-up Godzilla vs. Kong. We already know talents like Alexander SkarsgardDemián Bichir and Brian Tyree Henry are set to be in the latter film, but now two more exciting names have been revealed!

Deadline and Variety have each reported that actresses Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver, Welcome to Marwen) and Rebecca Hall (The Town, Iron Man 3) have both signed up for the anticipated monster match-up. While details are scarce for both, Variety’s report seems to suggest that Hall will play a lead role of some sort. Then again, they also note that “Hall’s character remains unknown at this time.

It’s not at all surprising that details are few and far between for either actress’ role in the film. After all, that’s been the approach for all of the MonsterVerse films for the past five years or so now, dating back to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla film. Still I’m a fan of both and can’t wait to see what they bring to the film.

Although, if there’s one complaint that I think of for both of the two released films in this cinematic universe, it’s that most of the human characters aren’t particularly memorable. Exceptionally well-cast, absolutely, but the two most memorable characters are Brian Cranston and John C. Reilly’s side-characters. And with the promising cast being formed for these next two films, I really hope more actors stand out in them.
