Michael Rooker Weighs In On James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Firing

Read Time:1 Minute, 21 Second

As the year 2018 winds down to a close, one of the biggest stories to unfold was Disney’s controversial firing of director James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3. It took so many different turns over the course of the past several months and ultimately culminated with the higher-ups at Disney deciding to stand firm on their decision, while Gunn would land a gig writing and possibly directing Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros mere months later.

Now actor Michael Rooker, who previously played Yondu in the first two Guardians films and worked with Gunn on both Slither and Super, has added his personal thoughts to the matter. Speaking at a panel at this year’s Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta, Georgia, Rooker said, “It’s terrible, isn’t it? Yeah, but oh well, guess what? He’s on a gig already. Suicide Squad, that’s right. He’s writing it and directing it as well.

Did Rooker just let the cat out of the bag? Maybe. While it hasn’t been confirmed yet if Gunn is actually going to direct Suicide Squad 2, it certainly does seem a bit inevitable right now. We all know he’s writing the script for the film and Gunn’s name would be a big draw for a number of comic movie fans. Plus it’d hardly surprise anyone if both Rooker and actor Dave Bautista find themselves playing roles in the next Suicide Squad film either.

What do you think? Are you hoping that Gunn helms the film? Should Rooker make an appearance of some sort in the movie? Be sure to share your thoughts with us down below!
