Box Office: HALLOWEEN Repeats at #1!
There wasn’t a whole lot of movement in the top five this week at the box office. In fact, there really wasn’t any movement at all.
Halloween once again claimed the top spot as it’s victim with $32 million. That’s a drop of 58% from it’s insane $77 million opening last week. Funny thing is, even the $32 mil is more than any other Halloween movie has grossed in its opening weekend. Michael Myers’ triumphant return to his rightful position as the king of the slashers has now amassed an amazing $126.6 million domestically! None of the other “heroes” (Freddy, Jason, Chucky, etc) of the slasher genre have even come close to grossing what Halloween 2018 has.
Once again in the number two spot, a position it has held since it opened four weekends ago, is A Star is Born. With another $14.1 million, Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut is now at a robust $148.7 million. If projections hold, expect this to gross over $200 million when all is said and done.
Sony’s Venom held the number three spot again with $10.8 million. It’s now at $187.2 million domestically. Internationally Venom has earned $321.1 million. That’s a worldwide total of $508 million. With it yet to open in Japan and China, Sony is projecting a total worldwide gross north of $600 million.
Goosebumps 2: The Haunted Halloween held the number four slot with $7.5 million, bringing its domestic take to $38.3 million.
The only change in the top five this week comes from the sole new release to debut inside the top ten. Hunter Killer, the latest action flick from Gerard Butler, opened to $6.6 million.
I don’t think Michael Myers will be able to fend off Freddy Mercury next week when Bohemian Rhapsody hits screens. The Queen biopic is expected to open around $30 million.

Here’s the full top ten. As always, worldwide numbers include the domestic takes, so if you need to know what the international numbers are you’ll have to break out the calculator.
