Here’s A New Look At Disney’s MARY POPPINS RETURNS

Read Time:1 Minute, 37 Second

Disney has a rich catalogue of properties for them to tap into. They are currently in the process of doing live action versions of all of the their animated properties. But they are also dusting off another classic, and giving it a sequel. Mary Poppins Returns is a sequel to Mary Poppins and you can see a special look below, courtesy of Disney.

Director Rob Marshall looks like he crafted something very special. Judging only by the footage released, it feels a lot like the original. Emily Blunt does a wonderful job channeling the same thing that Julie Andrews did. For a whole new generation of children, Emily Blunt will be the definitive Mary Poppins.

The one thing Mary Poppins Returns has going for it that the original didn’t is Lin-Manuel Miranda. The Hamilton genius is Mary’s sidekick in this adventure, like how Dick Van Dyke’s Burt was in the original. Van Dyke is back for the sequel – but as a different character.

There is magic, wonderment, classic animation blended with live action, and everything you’d come to expect. This looks great.

I was a big fan of the original movie when I was a kid. Maybe it was training for becoming a Doctor Who fan – an ageless wonder with something that is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Sound familiar?

Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters just in time for Christmas – December 19.

In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.
