Chris Pratt used to be a pudgy sitcom star. Now he is quite the opposite. He has three huge franchises he is a part of: The Marvel Cinematic Universe as Star Lord, Jurassic World as Owen, and The Lego Movie as Emmet. He isn’t stopping there though, the in-demand actor might be in a new thriller next.
THR reports that Pratt is negotiations to star in a new thriller from Taylor Sheridan, who wrote such things as the excellent Hell Or High Water, and the Sicario movies.
The movie, which is being made for Warner Bros, is said to be centered around a black ops team that takes down drug dealers who have protection from federal agencies.
Through no fault of his own, Pratt has had some bad luck with upcoming movies recently. He was set to do Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 and Cowboy Ninja Viking, but both flicks fell through for various reasons.
Still, he’s a big name, and a big box office draw. In a world where there are no more true “movie stars”, people like Pratt are about as close as you can get.
We will see Pratt soon in both Avengers 4 and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. He was in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Avengers: Infinity War this year, so his franchises are in full force.
There are a ton of movies out there about “special ops teams” that “operate outside of the law.” For this one to pop, it really needs to be special. Sheridan has written some wonderful movies, and I’m quickly becoming a fan. If he can pull it off with the same style and flair as Hell Or High Water and Sicario, then we will be in for something special.
David Heyman is producing the project, but no other talent such as co-stars and directors are known at this point.
It should be fun to see Chris Pratt in something like this. We’ll see.
