The Mandalorian

New Photos From THE MANDALORIAN Tease STAR WARS History

Read Time:1 Minute, 43 Second

The Mandalorian is the live action Star Wars television show coming to the Disney Play app next year. Jon Favreau is running the show, and has enlisted a ton of incredible talent behind the camera.

Favreau has been active on his Instagram account, promoting the show. He posted a couple pictures that have some significance in the Star Wars lore.

If this ice cream maker looks familiar, its because you paid close attention to The Empire Strikes Back.

Willrow-hood

That is a character known as Wilrow Hood, carrying that object (which is supposed to be a computer core, in universe) while evacuating Cloud City when the Empire intrudes. It is a blink and you miss it moment. What relevance it has to The Mandalorian is anyone’s guess. I would think it is repurposed. Don’t expect Wilrow Hood to appear in the show. But maybe he will, crazier things have happened.

The second picture is of a weapon, which you can see below:

This one has a history too. It is a very similar – if not the same – weapon that Boba Fett used during the Star Wars Holiday Special.

It is unknown whether it is the same gun, but it is certainly the same type of gun. Little things like this will make The Mandalorian feel even more a part of the universe it came from.

No casting news has been officially announced yet, but there have been rumors floating around that Pedro Pascal might be starring. We should be getting some official news any time now.

Do you enjoy these little Easter Eggs?

The Mandalorian will presumably hit the internet some time next year.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
