Michael Giacchino Will Return To Score SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME
Michael Giacchino is one of the best composers working today. He did stunning work on Lost, and has composed little movies you may have heard of like Rogue One, Incredibles 2, and Doctor Strange. He also scored Spider-Man: Homecoming, and now it’s official that he will return to do the sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home!
Film Music Reporter has the scoop. They confirm that Giacchino will return to score Spider-Man: Far From Home.
While Spider-Man’s fate has been left up in the air due to the event of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel has made it no secret that they are filming another Spider-Man movie.
Giacchino has been a part of many huge franchises, and is a frequent collaborator of J.J. Abrams. He also is known for using puns for the titles of his music tracks. Just look at some of the titles he used for Homecoming:
Things like “On a Ned-To-Know Basis” and “A Boatload of Trouble” make my pun-loving heart soar. I look forward to what he titles the sequel tracks.
The first movie was connected to the MCU through Tony Stark, and this time it looks like Nick Fury and Maria Hill will be the connection. The thought of Samuel L. Jackson interacting with Holland’s webslinger makes me want to buy a ticket right now.
Jon Watts is returning to direct, and most of the main cast is returning as well. Jake Gyllenhaal has been cast as the villain Mysterio.
While where exactly on the timeline this takes place is unknown, it does seem that Peter Parker will be seen in at least one new suit. But, if I had to bet, I think there will be a couple of new ones.
Does this make you excited? If you haven’t done a deep dive on Giacchino’s work, I highly recommend it. Everything he has done has been great, and while no one will really ever be at the level of John Williams, Giacchino is definitely the closest.
Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters July 5, 2019.
