RUMOR: Lady Gaga Being Courted By Disney For LITTLE MERMAID Role

Read Time:1 Minute, 41 Second

Lady Gaga has one of the best voices in all of music. Whether you like her music or her style is irrelevant, her talent is undeniable. She is getting rave reviews for her performance in front of the camera in A Star Is Born and now she might have the opportunity to do something bigger.

TheDisInsider.com reports that Lady Gaga might be up for a role in Disney’s live action Little Mermaid. While they couldn’t confirm it, they were confident enough to share it as a rumor.

The role, they are speculating, is for the villain Ursula. Zendaya has been cast as Ariel, and Lin-Manuel Miranda was hired to write the music. Gaga would be well suited for the role. But it might be the only iteration of the tale that I would want to see Ursula sing more than anyone else.

We haven’t heard much about the live action version Little Mermaid recently. Disney has been busy with live action versions of Aladdin, The Lion King, The Lady and The Tramp, and Lilo and Stitch.

Rob Marshall, who helmed this years Mary Poppins Returns is directing the film. No word on the rest of the cast, or where this will debut: On the Disney Play app like Lady and the Tramp or theatrically like The Lion King.

For the 3 people reading this who aren’t familiar with the animated version from Disney, here is a synopsis:

The 1989 animated classic centered around a rebellious 16-year-old mermaid Ariel, Who is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula (Pat Carroll) to become human for three days. But when plans go awry for the star-crossed lovers, the king must make the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter.

Would you like to see Lady Gaga as Ursula?
