Dave Bautista Wants In On James Gunn’s SUICIDE SQUAD Film
After his controversial firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 several months ago, it was always a matter of time until Warner Bros. picked up James Gunn to work on a DCU film. With yesterday’s surprising reports that Gunn had signed on to write a new script (and possibly also direct) for a Suicide Squad film following Gavin O’Connor’s departure from the film, it was also only a matter of time before actor and “Textbook Definition of ‘A True Friend’” Dave Bautista showed interest in joining the project. As it turns out, that ‘matter of time’ was mere hours!
Where do I sign up! James Gunn Boards ‘Suicide Squad 2’ To Write And Possibly Direct – Deadline https://t.co/OwdDbAm1Ks

“Where do I sign up!” Bautista tweeted in response to the news and included a link to the report. While it isn’t an official report that Bautista has actually landed any particular role in the film yet, it seems like an inevitability at this point- especially if Gunn is convinced to direct the film himself. At every given turn since Gunn’s firing this summer, Bautista has made it loud and clear that he supported the director. Besides there’s quite a number of characters in the DC lore that Bautista seems like a perfect fit to play.
Personally I would really love to see Bautista cast as Bane. While Bautista is a natural at comedic timing, I was also very impressed by his brief turn as a dramatic actor in Blade Runner 2049 last year and Bane is a character that should require a fair bit of acting chops. Yes, Bane is best remembered for the physical threat he represents, but he’s also one of the smartest villains in Batman’s rogue gallery. I’d love to see Bautista bring that smarter side of Bane to the big screen.
But what do you think? Who do you think Bautista should play if he also switches over to the DCU? Be sure to leave your thoughts down below!
