THE CONJURING 3 Finds Its Director In CURSE OF LA LLORONA’s Michael Chaves

Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

With The Conjuring Universe continuously drawing in attention from new viewers and the ever-expanding spin-off films, viewers wondered when we would shift the focus back to The Conjuring 3. Last month it was revealed The Conjuring 3 already had a completed script and today we get confirmation the film has found its director, in Curse of La Llorona’s Michael Chaves.

The Conjuring 3’s release date was surrounded with uncertainty after the success of both Annabelle films and The Nun. Additionally, James Wan’s ever growing busy schedule fueled speculation that The Conjuring 3 would take longer than expected. However, with today’s news, fans of the The Conjuring Universe can rejoice, as the franchise that’s started it all will be the next entry to go into production. Wan returns as producer for the 3rd entry through his production company Atomic Monster, where he initially worked with Chaves on Curse of La Llorona.

The Conjuring stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are expected to reprise their respective roles as the Warrens.  Wilson and Farmiga were last seen in The Conjuring 2, with archival footage being used for all other The Conjuring Universe films. However, both Wilson and Farmiga will next be seen in Annabelle 3 which bring the franchise to the present with the timeline of the film somewhere between the events of the first Conjuring film.

As I have reported before, The Conjuring Universe has amassed a huge following and has become the most successful horror franchise to date. The Conjuring Universe is set to have one new in-universe film yearly, and although they seem to vary in quality, fans are continuously flocking to the cinemas for more scares.
