Gal Gadot Joins MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS Sequel, DEATH ON THE NILE

Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

Kenneth Branagh’s Murder On The Orient Express was fine. It was a mostly faithful adaptation, that had a very charismatic cast, phenomenal sets, and some of the most incredible facial hair that has ever been on screen. The sequel, Death On The Nile was explicitly set up during the events of Express. Now we know who Hercule Poirot will interact with: Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot!

Deadline has the exclusive – Gal Gadot has signed on to star in Death On The Nile. While Branagh is set to direct, he has not officially signed on to reprise his role as Poirot. So either signing on the dotted line is a mere technicality at this point, or the role will be recast. The story doesn’t really work without the character. If he’s directing, I assume he’s playing the role again too.

This could very well be Gadot’s next role after she completes work on Wonder Woman 1984. If not, it will be Red Notice for Universal – a film she is doing with Dwayne Johnson. On top of that, she has been tapped to play Hedy Lamarr in a Showtime miniseries. It is great to see how in demand she is, when she nearly quit the business before landing the role of Wonder Woman.

There have been many versions of Murder On The Orient Express, but the sequels have been less so. In a franchise heavy world, I can see how we will be getting a ton of Hercule Poirot adventures in the future. Death On The Nile will have a tall task in competing with the cast of the first one, which included Dame Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad, Willem Dafoe and Leslie Odom Jr. Gadot is a good start.

Who would you want to see on screen with Gal Gadot and Kenneth Branagh?

Death On The Nile hits theaters December 20, 2019.
