HALLOWEEN On Track For Franchise Record Opening, Plus Details On The Revenger Watch Party!
Folks, it looks like excitement levels for the new Halloween are off the charts right now, because the early box office projections for the film are bonkers!
Up until now, the biggest opening the franchise has ever had came in the form of Rob Zombie’s Halloween reboot opening to $26 Million back in 2007. Deadline is now reporting that this new film, a return to the original continuity and the supposed true sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 original, is on pace to make upwards of $40 Million on its opening weekend. Some are even claiming it could soar past $50 Million, which would basically turn this new Michael Myers film into this year’s It!
If you’ll recall, Stephen King’s It made waves last year by opening to a staggering $123 Million on its way to an unbelievable $700 Million worldwide. While Halloween won’t touch those numbers, an opening at or around $50 Million would make the film THE horror event of 2018.
And guess what? You can add to Halloween’s success the following week and meet some cool people, cause now it’s time for the really exciting news:
If you’re a fan of this site, its podcasts, and its writers, and you’d like to meet up with a bunch of fellow Revengers to see this movie together…
Halloween will be the subject of our next Revenger Watch Party, and it’ll take place right here in New York. The plan is to get together at around 6:30PM to see a showing of the film at the UA Midway Stadium 9 theater in Forest Hills, Queens. There’s a major subway hub on the corner and it’s only a block and a half from the Long Island Rail Road, so it’s easy as all heck for you to get there.
You’d see the film a bunch of members of the Revenge of The Fans family, including Mario-Francisco Robles (The Fanboy Podcast and The Revengers Podcast), Brett Miro (The Revengers Podcast and The Play It LOUDCast), Aaron Virola and Chris Lisanti of The Fanboy Garage, and other members of our New York team. We’d then have a postmortem after the movie, discuss what we thought, and generally have a great time taking part in what should be an awesome movie.
Then there’s an optional After Party!
That’s right, for those of you looking to party the night away, you’ll also have the option to join a bunch of us for the second part of the night. See, MFR’s in a band, and they’re having a Reunion Show that night. So after we see the film and postmortem, he’ll be heading to Blackthorn 51 in Elmhurst (also very close to a subway and only a 10 minute drive from the movie theater) to get ready to take the stage with The Boom Section at 11:00. They’ll be playing a combination of originals and covers of classics by Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, and more.
Also, since the reunion is taking place on Blackthorn 51‘s annual Halloween Show, you’re all cordially invited to come out in costume. After The Boom Section plays, and after headliners The Undead conclude their set, DJ Cybertron will take over for the after party.
In terms of pricing, here’s what you need to know:
Package 1: $20
It includes the movie ticket and post-mortem chat with the RTF crew about the 7PM Halloween at UA Midway Stadium 9 in Forest Hills.
Package 2: $40
It includes the above, plus tickets to the Boom Section concert and subsequent after party, as well as some freebie Revenge of The Fans merchandise that we’ll be premiering at the show.
Please note that the theater has yet to announce showtimes for that date, so the exact time is not yet known. But we’ll be aiming for which ever showing is closest to 7PM on October 27th, and we’ll be buying up an entire row (or two, depending on the demand!) once that information becomes available.
If you’re interested in participating in this, please email Mario-Francisco Robles today at MFR@RevengeOfTheFans.com!
