SPIDER-MAN For PS4 Kicks Off ‘New Era’ Of Marvel Games Says Executive
Spider-Man for PS4 finally launched earlier this month, and it lives up to the hype. It is a wonderful (and very addicting) game. I haven’t beaten it yet, but I will finish it soon, and that is rare for me.
Bill Rosemann is an executive for Marvel Games, and he took to twitter in response to a GameSpot video, to say that there will be more Marvel games like this on the way.
One of my fave parts of this video is when @bryanintihar talks about how Marvel’s Spider-Man is intended as “the Iron Man of Marvel video games,” which is exactly how we view it. As with that first MCU hit, #SpiderManPS4 kicks off a new era for Marvel console games. #BeGreater https://t.co/U1eHdZEmoe

I can definitely see this potential for other heroes. Spider-Man even has some easter eggs in it. You can see the Sanctum Santorum, Alias Investigations, The Rand Corporation, and of course, Avengers tower. Marvel has a very large presence in films and television, but they’ve been lacking in video games lately. The Lego ones are fantastic, but that has been the extent of it for a while now.
The game is the fastest selling 1st party game for a reason – it is really good. They took their time with it, to get everything right.
Our video game podcast, The Play It Loudcast talks about this game in detail if you would like to listen.
I would like a sequel to this game, but I also think a team up game is the way to go next. Don’t abandoned Spider-Man, but add Daredevil into the mix. For example, have levels dedicated to both of them (kind of like how there were 3 main characters in Grand Theft Auto V) and then have tandem levels too. It could be fun.
What Marvel character would you like to see get the video game treatment next?
