John Krasinski Jokes That He’s A Transformer After Injuring His Knee While Working On JACK RYAN Series

Read Time:1 Minute, 41 Second

While actor-director John Krasinski won’t be appearing in the upcoming Bumblebee film this December, he’s apparently become a robot in disguise!

In a recent interview with E! News at an event promoting his new Jack Ryan series on Amazon, Krasinski revealed that during the course of shooting the show’s first season all across the globe, he “shattered” his knee in four places and was forced to fly back to the United States for surgery. Krasinski pointed to his knee and joked,”This is all robotic. I’m a Transformer now.

It’s quite interesting to see how Krasinski has reinvented himself lately as both a credible filmmaker and as an action star, opposed to the iconic comedic every man he played in The Office as Jim Halpert. Aside from obviously playing Jack Ryan again, it seems inevitable that Krasinski will eventually land a superhero role at some point.

Obviously he mentioned his interest in the idea of co-starring alongside his wife Emily Blunt in a potential Fantastic Four reboot set in the MCU back in the spring, but I could also see Krasinski making for a great Hal Jordan. Hell, I think he’d make for a wonderful Superman too if things don’t work out between Henry Cavill and Warner Bros. He might not immediately look the part like Cavill does, but let’s think back to his portrayal of Jim in The Office– that warmth and sense of charm would match perfectly for Clark Kent.

Krasinski was great in Amazon’s Jack Ryan which already received a green light for a second season. He is the next one in the long line of people who went from sitcom star to action hero. Chris Pratt had a similar journey. He went from Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation to huge action franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. So, a superhero gig isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
