Kevin Feige Shares How CAPTAIN MARVEL Is Similar To TERMINATOR 2

Read Time:1 Minute, 38 Second

Captain Marvel is the next MCU film to be released. It is a very important one too, as we will be formally introduced to what is likely to be the new face of the franchise. We know it takes place in the 90s but outside of that, we aren’t sure what the tone or feel will be. But Kevin Feige talked to TotalFilm about Captain Marvel and compared it to a very popular film: Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Feige said that Captain Marvel is like the popular sequel because of “those cool street-level fights and car chases.

We’ve seen that before in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But it is nice to get some idea of what to expect. It is interesting that a franchise with cosmic potential (like Green Lantern for DC) would have “street-level fights.” The origin story might not have a lot of cosmic elements to it. That could very well be saved for the sequel. The official press release for the movie (which you can read at the bottom of this post) teases a “galactic war” though, so we might get the best of both worlds.

Later today, we should get even more information on the movie. Captain Marvel star Brie Larson had this conversation with EW on Twitter:

So, Entertainment Weekly will have something at noon. I doubt it’s a trailer, I am expecting something more like an official promotional image of her in the costume or something. Regardless, we will have it for you as soon as it drops.

Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2018.

“The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
