THE FLASH: More Details About Its Production Schedule, How It Fits With Other DC Projects

Read Time:1 Minute, 45 Second

A week ago, news came out that Warner Bros are planning to start filming The Flash on February 5th, 2019 at their studios in England. Our friends over at The GWW have now added more details about the film’s upcoming production cycle. According to the site, Warner Bros is “expecting” the film to wrap up its principal production sometime next May.

While The Flash currently doesn’t have an official release date, it seems likely that the film will hit theaters sometime during the spring or summer of 2020 in order to follow up the theatrical release of Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey earlier in the year. Or at least that’s presumably the case, seeing as how neither film appears to have a release date yet and we know Birds of Prey is scheduled to start filming sooner. Hopefully Warner Bros will announce when the next batch of DCU films after Wonder Woman 1984 are hitting theaters before San Diego Comic Con 2019.

Speaking of upcoming DCU films with no currently announced release date rumored to begin production in the (relatively) near future- Matt Reeves’ The Batman. While there doesn’t appear to be an exact date yet as for when cameras will start rolling for that film, the current word on the street is that it’s slated to begin shooting sometime next spring or summer. In other words, should all go according to plan for Warner Bros, Reeves may likely begin filming The Batman just as or shortly after John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein finish production on The Flash.

In the meantime, all we can do is continue waiting and reporting on news as it comes out. Considering Daley and Goldstein’s recent success with Game Night, I’m quite intrigued at what the duo has to offer for The Flash. There are some truly impressive visual moments in that film that make me wonder what the two can come up with in how to really showcase Barry Allen’s superpowers.
