The search for Spock is finally over as Ethan Peck boards the USS Discovery.

Variety is reporting that Ethan Peck will join Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy as the newest Spock for Star Trek: Discovery season two.

Nimoy was the first actor to portray Spock, starring in three seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series and eight movies. He tragically passed away in February 2015 at the age of 83. His son Adam Nimoy has carried on his legacy with the documentary For The Love of Spock and by staying involved with the current workings of the Star Trek universe.

Zachary Quinto has played Spock in 3 films-Star TrekStar Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond. JJ Abrams directed the first two with Justin Lin helming the third. A fourth was in development but with Chris Pine (Captain Kirk) and Chris Hemsworth, the two main characters for the fourth film, dropped out of contract re-negotiations because Paramount wanted to reduce the already agreed to amount the stars were to be paid. This was due to budget cuts after the last film lost the studio money. These three films all take place in the separate Kelvin timeline, whereas the shows all take place in the Prime timeline.

Star Trek: Discovery takes place years before the original series, and is the sixth live action series, seventh overall. It stars Sonequa-Martin Green, Jason Isaacs, and Doug Jones. Hell On Wheels‘ Anson Mount is also joining the second season in the role of Captain Pike. Read what executive producer Alex Kurtzman had to say on Spock below.

“Through 52 years of television and film, a parallel universe and a mirror universe, Mr. Spock remains the only member of the original bridge crew to span every era of Star Trek. The great Leonard Nimoy, then the brilliant Zachary Quinto, brought incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion. We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning. Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”

Star Trek: Discovery will debut sometime in 2019 on CBS All Access.
