Sylvester Stallone Is Teasing A New RAMBO Project

Read Time:1 Minute, 43 Second

Rambo and Rocky are two of Sylvester Stallone’s most iconic characters, in two of Stallone’s most successful franchises. He has played Rocky up through 2015 where he was a supporting character in Creed, and will reprise the role once again when Creed II hits later this year. The last time we saw Rambo was in 2008, which was thought to be the swan song for the character. Now, it doesn’t seem like that is the case.

Stallone posted this on his Instagram account:

There were once talks of a Rambo 5 happening, then that fizzled out, and the project seemed dead. Then there was going to be a reboot in the form of a television show. That didn’t happen either. But Stallone is teasing something here.

The best bet is a movie. But I wouldn’t rule out a limited television run. I’d imagine outlets like Amazon and Netflix would jump at the chance to do an 8-10 episode run of Rambo’s last run.

ComicBook.com has the original Rambo 5 synopsis which you can read below.

“When the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent criminals”

No word on if this will still be used, but it feels a lot like the Taken franchise. There is definitely a world where a low budget version of that happens. Though it may be wise to alter the setting, given how “the U.S.-Mexican border” is a bit political right now. But the Rambo franchise has always been a bit political in its own way, so maybe they will stick with it.

I enjoyed 2008’s Rambo quite a bit actually. But I have not been clamoring for another one since. If this happens, I’ll be interested to see how it looks, if it doesn’t, I won’t lose any sleep over it.

What do you want from a Rambo 5?
